 The Wild Goose Literary e-Journal annual short story competition

 Submission Guidelines & Conditions of Entry 

1. This is the inaugural year of The Wild Goose Literary e-Journal annual short story competition. Australian writers are invited to enter a short story, written in any style for the first prize of $100 Google card, a book pack of Black Cockie Press books and publication in the April edition of The Wild Goose. A Second prize of $50 Google card, a book pack of Black Cockie Press books and Publication in the April edition of The Wild Goose. And a third prize of a book pack of Black Cockie Press books and Publication in the April edition of The Wild Goose Manuscripts must be original works, in English, and must not have been previously accepted for publication, which includes websites. Any style of story is acceptable. No entry form is necessary. Shortlisted writers will receive publication in the April edition of The Wild Goose Literary e-Journal.

2. Entries open on the 1/1/2020 and close on the 31/3/2020. Entries must be PDF documents. They must not exceed 5000 words and the title of the story and the receipt number not the author’s name, is to appear on the manuscript. In order to ensure anonymity, your name, address and the title of the story should be on the e-mail accompanying the entry. Entry is on the basis that the short story is your own original work. You may send any number of entries as long as the fee for each is paid. E-mail your entries to:  thewildgoose@blackcockiepress.com.au

3. The judges’ decision will be final and no correspondence will be entered into. The winner and shortlisted writers will be notified by e-mail.  

4. Each entry must be accompanied by an AUD$5 administration fee which will be used to pay for judging and assist with administrative and postage costs. You can pay the entry fee online HERE

5. The judges reserve the right not to award the prize should the quality of entries be deemed not high enough.

6. Copyright in the winning stories resides with the authors. The winners and runners-up grant the wild goose literary e-journal an exclusive licence to publish their winning stories in the relevant issue for four months from the date of first publication in the issue, and thereafter a non-exclusive licence indefinitely to publish in the relevant online issue.
